Study: 13% of Europeans surveyed regularly contribute to blogs

Interesting study by the European Interactive Advertising Association (www.eiaa.net), it reveals, among other things, that:

  • 13% of Europeans regularly contribute to blogs
  • 12% are downloading podcasts at least once a month.
  • 17% increase in time spent online across Europe
  • European super internet users revealed with 24% spending over 16 hours a week online
  • France tops Euro league spending 13 hours per week online
  • 29% of Europeans download music at least once a month
  • 10% of Europeans have made telephone calls over the web

But it is the function of the internet as a medium which is changing drastically according to the survey:

"Consumer reliance on the internet as a source of information has made it the most consistent media for people during the day. With the exception of early mornings (6am – 10am), the internet is the second most used media throughout the rest of the day."

The average of hours spent on the internet a week in Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg is 10.

21% of the Europeans surveyed spend more than 16 hours a week.
