A small revolution in information/news management ?

Yahoo launched Yahoo Pipes recently and I am wondering if we're witnessing a little revolution in RSS/information management here...

pipes.jpgPipes allows you to manage RSS based information in a pretty detailed way. It is a kind of online work-shed were you can take different action modules and connect them together so they deliver exactly the results you need.

Example: you want to get all the news from Yahoo!, Google, MSN, Findory, Bloglines, and Technorati on any topic, all fed to you in one feed... well then that's possible with the "Aggregated News Alerts Pipe".

Modules to build with are in fact operators: one will fetch RSS feeds, the other one will eliminate duplicate results and yet another one will translate these RSS results into another language. You connect them in a logical order and the "pipe" does the work.

I am planning to study this closely - I write "study" because this service, although visual and logic, is not that easy for an average web user with a PR background ;-) In fact I suggested to Yahoo to help them with tutorials for - let's say - non IT minded professionals.

If you like to read more about Yahoo pipes and how it can be used to manage information I suggest you read the excellent articles from Robin Good and Brady Forrest, here and here.
